ASA Foundation launches US Embassy supported “Empowering Youth through Sports” development program for local NGO school teachers in Sihanoukville, Cambodia!

15 October 2019

Supported by long-term strategic project partner, the U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh, ASA Foundation launched a ground-breaking “Empowering Youth through Sports” program for local NGO school teachers that was hosted at the Life International School (LIS) in Sihanoukville, Southern Cambodia.

The Sports-based Health, Hygiene, Life Skills, Gender Equality & Rules-based Approach education Training of Trainer (ToT) Master Training program empowered 20 male and female NGO high school teachers from Sihanoukville. With Coca Cola kindly supporting all water and isotonic drinks, the ToT programming activities build the teachers capacity to deliver Health, Hygiene, Life Skills, Gender Equality & Rules-based Approach education through participatory learning workshops combined with specialized Edu-Sports development activities to their respective male and female high school students on a long-term sustainable basis. The student training development activities were then closely monitored and evaluated by ASA Foundation on a weekly basis.

The program also included an Opening Ceremony & Program Showcase with the U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia, W. Patrick Murphy that was hosted at LIS and involved over 1,000 students.

Many thanks to the U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh together with LIS and the NGO schools for all their help and support for making this inspiring program possible for the youth and young adult teachers of Sihanoukville!
